Top Ten Tuesday : Audiobooks!
It's fortunate that this topic came up now and not last year because the past few months I've been getting into audiobooks. I haven't listened to many, so I might not make it to ten...but here are my top picks!
Uprooted written by Naomi Novak, performed by Julia Emelin
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz written by L. Frank Baum, performed by Anne Hathaway
Alice's Adventure's in Wonderland written by Lewis Carrol, performed by Scarlett Johansson
Jane Eyre written by Charlotte Bronte, performed by Thandie Newton
Classic Love Poems performed by Richard Armitage
The Seventh Bride written by T. Kingfisher, performed by Kaylin Heath
You're Never Weird on the Internet written and performed by Felicia Day
And that's a wrap! I've got some distractions distracting me this week so I can't add my thoughts below each pick like I normally do. My choices this week was based on the quality of the audio - the performer, the sound, the pace. Of course, all of the actual books being read are recommendations. :)
What do you like to listen to?
Until next week,
Jess
P.S. Honorary mention to Harry Potter series performed by Jim Dale!

I didn't know that Felicia read her own book. OMG! I need the audiobook.
I've only ever listened to Harry Potter audiobooks and Team Human by Sarah Rees Brennan (super funny).
I've got a couple of audible freebies (Fan girl, Bone Gap). If I have the time to, I rather read than listen. Some days I wish that my commute was longer so I could listen to books on the way.
You're Never Weird on the Internet was a great one!!
I love how Joss Whedon narrated his intro. And hearing the stories from Felicia herself made it all the more. :)
You got Fangirl as a freebie? I have to try that one out! Let me know what you think of it. :) I go back and forth. But, I do require a solid narrator. I have a hard time with some books because their narrator contrasts so differently from the tone/voice of the writing and characters. And YES you need Felicia's audiobook. It completely enhances the entire thing. Because she's basically talking to you like you were her friend. IT'S AWESOME.
I loved the authentic accent for Uprooted. / The Anne Hathaway version is the one I have for WoOz / I have The Seventh Bride on my TBR
My TTT: "Dear Audiobook Producers: I Really Want These"
I did too (Uprooted)! Anne Hathaway is a fabulous narrator. And The Seventh Bride is clever and it was the narrator's first performance. She did a great job on accents too and keeping the character's voice alive. :)
I should really listen to some classics on audio! Oz and Alice sound like they would be a lot of fun, with such great narrators.
Yes! And Audible has this series called 'A-List', they have all these classics read by actors. Pride and Prejudice (Rosamund Pike), David Copperfield (Richard Armitage), Peter Pan (Lily Collins), etc. I love it! :)
